Year In Review | 2020

yearinreview.jpg

Every year I want to be better about blogging, but every year I seem to have less and less time to do it. But I’m ending out the year with one last blog post looking back on quite possibly the worst and best year ever. In most ways, 2020 was the best year for the business to date. Which is something I’m eternally grateful for. Personally speaking, 2020 was painful and hard and I’m honestly still processing through all that I’ve learned through it. Which I’m sure most of you can relate to.

I’ve put together a graphic for my “Year In Review” and it gives a few facts and figures that breaks down our year into pretty astonishing numbers. I’m still shocked by how much growth we’ve seen!

  • Top Instagram post: honestly I am so shocked by this! I thought for sure it would be the post from when Sophie was born. Not so! This was when we announced that we were expecting a girl—after we had shared that we wouldn’t be finding out the gender. In a turn of events, we changed our minds in the waiting room of the doctors office before our anatomy scan. We decided we wanted to know! We kept it a secret for awhile but I felt like I was lying to people so we decided to share publicly that we had found out we were having a little girl! That babe is almost 7 months old now and it just blows my mind!

  • Our best-sellers: not many surprises here! The “these are the days” mug continues to be on the best-sellers chart and the “FA LA LA” sweatshirt was definitely a winner this year! But at the top, we’ve got the rainbow mug which is still one of my all time favorites.

  • Some numbers:

    • 4 tons of packages shipped this year! I cannot believe it. What a blessing. Also, that’s a lot of boxes and tape and packaging peanuts.

    • We sold over 7k units which is crazy to me. I have big dreams for next year and it’s easy to see that number and want more, but I am taking a minute to be super proud of myself. For doing the hard work and for not relying on ads or another sales platform to bring in sales. Just me, myself, my Instagram, and my email list. Pretty proud.

    • This is my rough estimate of tissue paper sheets used and WOW that’s a lot. In addition, we used roughly 581 cubic feet of biodegradable packaging peanuts.

    • Our system tells us we have over 4k customers. Thank you. We love you.

    • And based off my calculations, we’ve made drop offs at the post office, roughly 107 times this past year. But it’s probably more. They know us by name there.

    • There are so many other numbers I could calculate, buy I’ll leave it there. This year was our biggest year of revenue yet and our third consecutive year of having a 6-figure year in sales. I continue to be humbled and blessed and amazed. Thank you for having so much faith in me.

  • That quote for a testimonial is one of my favorite DMs I received this year and I’m truly overwhelmed by the kind words and encouragement I receive. I hope to always spread hope and joy to you.

  • Some goals we achieved:

    • I’m not the best at setting goals, but my goals are always to surpass the previous years numbers. So I hope to sell more units, increase my profit margins, and increase overall sales! And we did all those things this year. Grateful, grateful, grateful.

    • I’ve always wanted a launch day where we have over 300 orders in the course of 12 hours and this year we had a launch day with over 400 orders in 12 hours! That may be small for some, but it was a huge milestone for us!

    • Hiring team members and training them will always be the hardest part of the job for me! This year we had a lot of transition and change, but I’m so grateful for my two team members I currently have and I’m so incredibly grateful for their hard work! Alex and Maddie both worked their booties off this year, especially October-December and I’m so grateful for the ways they have served me and YOU.

  • And lastly, check out those top customers from 2020 and their spending in the shop!! So grateful for you: Elizabeth, Rebekah, and Brittany! You are such a gift to me!

Thank you for playing a role is such a big year for the business. We are looking forward to more products, more exciting surprises, and cultivating more hope and joy alongside you as we enter into 2021.

Every year, we have a survey to help us figure out what worked, what didn’t work, and what we can do better! If you’re able to spend a few minutes filling out our annual survey, we would be so grateful! It should take about 5 minutes. All entrants will be entered into a giveaway for a $100 shop credit!

Take the survey!
