2019 Gift Guide for Seasons of Grief or Waiting

As I’ve grown a little older, the more I realize that there is a lot of heartache in the world. Christmas last year quickly became the darkest 3 days of our life. So, I’m aware that even in joyful seasons, there are also plenty of others going through grief. And I’m sure we all know someone who is grieving or in a season of waiting for breakthrough, hope, or peace. It’s a painful and hard place to be. If you’re the person who is in that place, I pray that you know that you are loved and seen. I also pray that you have people around you surrounding you with love, kindness, and support. Here are some of my picks for those experiencing grief:

  1. Print or Artwork by Lily and Val: sometimes just an uplifting and beautiful piece of artwork is what someone needs. Whether it be holiday themed or not, adding a piece of artwork to your home always brightens the mood. Shop the Lily and Val collection here!

  2. Everwell Co Body Scrub: there’s nothing sweeter than a little indulgence and self care when you’re in a hard season. We rarely take time for ourselves as it is, but it’s even more important to give ourselves grace during a season of grief. Giving some luxurious skin care to a friend in grief will be such a sweet treat that she would otherwise not treat herself to!

  3. Joy Comes in the morning Mug: This mug was made just days after I found out I lost our second baby. I was on a time crunch to design my next product line and this is what came out of my moments of grief. In truth, I made it for myself. It’s the morning reminder that I needed in those very dark, sad, and lonely days. So, it was intentionally created for seasons of grief (even though it’s a good gift for anyone!)

  4. Steady + Flight Chai Candle: there’s something so comforting about lighting a candle, right? These candles are made with soy wax and essential oils, and they smell so good! The maker of these candles is also a previous student of mine, and I have loved watching her business flourish!

  5. 2020 Empowering Calendar: A few months ago, I started sharing some hand drawn pieces of artwork on my Instagram stories. They are just little quotes that I make up and share with my followers to help inspire and empower them. I decided to turn those pieces of artwork/quotes into a 2020 calendar. I actually have two calendars, one is full of quotes and one is full of bible verses. Both would be good options! I always hope these calendars speak truth, hope, and joy into every single day of the year.

  6. Fresh Flowers: I know this type of gift won’t last more than a week, I know that there are some of us (me included!) that LOVE fresh flowers. They are a stunning reminder of the love of others and brighten up an entire room! You might just want to drop off some flowers on your friends doorstep at some point in December. I know she’d feel so loved.

  7. Necklace from Dear Mushka: if you haven’t heard of this shop, you’re in for a treat! They design and create the most beautiful jewelry, but they also have meaning behind every piece! Which is something I love (obviously). One of my sisters gave me this necklace shortly after our miscarriage and it was such a meaningful gift for me. I love this piece for someone who miscarried, this one for someone in waiting, and this one for someone who just needs hope. You will definitely find something you love in this shop!

  8. Mornin’ Sunshine Mug: maybe you’re looking for a different type of mug for your friend; one that is beautiful and bright! Well this one is the one for you! It’s one of our best-sellers and isn’t usually in stock this time of year. Snag it while it’s in stock!
