Ten Random Facts About Me

I don’t know about you, but I always love learning the quirks about people. There is so much to a person than what meets the eye and it’s like a treasure hunt to find out what lies beneath the surface. That’s one thing I love about friendship. It’s a constant pursuit of knowing the person better; deeper.

So, since I love learning more about people I figured that you might want to learn some random facts about me. Naturally. Is this me being vain? I sure hope not. I truly believe that we are all made unique and that’s what is so great about humanity. We all have quirks and things that make us unique. Do you love these things about yourself that make you special? Or do you resent them? I hope that you love what makes you special and unique. It’s what makes you YOU and that’s pretty great. So next time you’re bored, make a list of 10 things that make you unique. Here’s my list:

  1. I don’t like to finish things. Let me explain. When my favorite face wash gets too low, I stop using it. When I have one more can of my favorite flavor of La Croix, I don’t drink it. I don’t know why, but it’s what I do. I know it doesn’t make sense because if I didn’t want my face wash to be gone, and then stop using it, isn’t it the same as it being completely out? Yes, yes it is. Like I said: quirky.

  2. I like to dislike things that others like. I just fiiiiiinally started to like Fixer Upper. I had never seen an episode but since everyone seemed to love Chip and Joanna, I decided to dislike them. I know, such a snob. So, when a lot of people get on a bandwagon, I jump off. Not 100% of the time, but a lot of the time I do.

  3. I can sing most Disney songs. I loved Disney movies all throughout grade school, middle school, and into my adolescence. I still listen to a Disney Spotify playlist. I should clarify that the Disney songs I can sing are from my childhood. So, the 90’s and early 2000’s.

  4. I sneeze a lot. When I sneeze I always sneeze multiple times. My record is 10 sneezes in a row, but most of the time it’s about 5-6 sneezes.

  5. I hate going to the dentist. I feel like most people feel this way. What is it about the dentist that we all hate? I think it’s the fact that I am a perfectionist and a performer, so I always dread having to confess that no, I don’t floss every day. I always walk in thinking I can pull off a lie and tell them that I do. But the good girl inside of me can never pull it off. So, I leave feeling terrible.

  6. I flare my nostrils when I laugh really hard. Yep, it’s true. Most of my friends and family know that if you made me laugh and my nostrils started flaring, then you really got me. It’s uncontrollable and it happens to my sister too, so I guess it’s a family thing. Genetics are weird, people.

  7. I ran a marathon with my husband on our one year wedding anniversary. Yeah, we were crazy. It was one of the most challenging physical things I’ve ever done. The training was the worst part. We would wake up every Saturday morning around 4am or 5am and go run for 3-4 hours. It totally consumed our life and I don’t really want to do another one. Half marathons are super fun though! The training is manageable and it’s not a grueling and taxing as a full marathon.

  8. I worked at the post office in college. My first two years of college were spent at a small private Christian school and the campus had its own post office. I spent the first year of college working there; sorting mail and delivering packages on a golf cart. I loved it.

  9. I went to Uganda my senior year of high school. My high school youth group went to Uganda to work at an orphanage and it was a life-changing experience for countless reasons. At times, I feel like I am still unpacking what God wanted to show me on that trip.

  10. I was homeschooled. For grade school I was homeschooled and it was the best. I know there are some preconceptions about homeschoolers, but I like to think that I turned out pretty normal. My sisters were homeschooled as well and the majority of our friends were as well. We spent plenty of time socializing and doing school work with others. It was the best! I got my school work done quickly and was able to play more. Pretty much the best, if I do say so myself.
